"My Settings - Email"

This is another section for which we cannot give detailed instruction. It is purely up to you to determine what emails you want to receive from AOCI and which ones you don't.

Email Frequency

"Send  me email notifications..."

• "Instantly" means that very time there is any activity for which you have requested to be notified, the ning (our server) system will send you an email. If you find that you are receiving too many emails, you might opt for the "Daily" option.
• "Daily" means that you'll receive one daily email summary of all activities for which you have requested to be notified.

NOTE: The "Daily" option has no effect on personal messages or messages from AOCI.

Association of Clergy International - AOCI Messages

"Email me when I receive..."
You will automatically receive all "personal" messages and messages to "multiple recipients" into your Message Inbox here on AOCI. Therefore, there's usually no need to also receive them into your email account.

As for whether you want to receive emails for the remainder AOCI messages, it's purely a personal choice. We cannot make any recommendations.

Requests & Invitations

"Email me when I get..."
I personally recommend that you check both of these options.

If you leave them unchecked, you may not notice friend requests waiting to be approved, and ignoring the requests might be considered rude by some people. Also, without an email notifying you of an event invitation, you may miss an event that you would have wanted to know about.

Content & Members

"Email me when..."

• "My content is featured" - You might want to know when we "feature" one of your blog posts, photos or videos. "Featuring" immediately moves your content to everyone's Main page where it receives more exposure.
• "My content is approved" - If you comment to someone else's post and that person has set their profile to approve all comments before posting, checking this option will ensure you get notified of their approval.
• "Someone sends me a gift" - It's always nice when someone acknowledges our gift. Checking this option will ensure you know and can respond when someone sends you something.
• "Someone I invite joins AOCI" - You also might want to know when someone you invite joins AOCI. That way, you can go to their profile page, welcome them and send a friend request. Don't forget to send them a virtual gift too!
• "Anyone joins AOCI" - It's important to remember that one of the purposes of joining this network is social networking and making new friends. Check this option and you'll be aware of and able to welcome or send a gift to new members. You can then also send a friend request.

"New comments to approve" - Unless you selected the option on the Privacy page to approve comments on your blogs or profile, there is no need to check this box.

"New items to approve" - I recommend you check this, as these notifications will not be in your AOCI Message Inbox.

Activity

"Email me when there is new activity..."
"Activity" includes blog posts, events, groups, pages, photos and videos. I recommend you check the first box. That way, you'll know if anyone comments on any of your posts and you'll be able to respond to them.

Turn Off All Emails

Check this box if you prefer not to receive any emails from AOCI.

When you have finished making all your changes, click the Save button.
