Thoughts on 1 Timothy 1:1-2

Paul in his first letter to Timothy identified who he was in the first verse. Can you identify with who he said he was? Can you say the same thing about yourself? Paul clearly states that he is an apostle; in other words he is an envoy or delegate. One appointed to represent another. Who was he appointed to represent? The Scriptures say he represented Christ Jesus. Christians are suppose to be representatives, envoys or delegates representing Christ Jesus. Examine your life today! Who…

God's New Appointment for Me!

Good Day in the loverly name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! May his grace, mercy, and provision saturate each and every one of your lives and you continue to live and serve him!

This last Thursday, my fellow ministers of the Assemblies of God in the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands saw fit to name me the Presbyter-elect for the island of Abaco in the Bahamas! This is an amazing, yet mind-boggling appointment. This  position of ministry carries with it a lot of…

Joesph, a type of Christ!

Joesph is a picture of Jesus Christ in the following ways:

They were both:

Beloved sons (Gen 37:3; Matthew 3:13)

   Hated (Gen 37:4; John 15:4)

Rejected as rulers (Gen 37:8; Lk 19:14)

Conspired against (Gen 37:18; Matt 27:1)

Sold for silver (Gen 37:28; Matt 26:15)

   Over-comers of temptation (Gen 39:7-12; Heb 4:15)

Given great power (Gen 41:42-44; Matt 28:18)

 Some…

Sin Caused by Envy is unjustifiable

In spite of the favor that Jacob showed Joesph, there can be no justification for the action taken by Joesph's brothers. It was sin caused by ency. Instead of being grateful for Joesph who brought them food, they were overcome with jealousy and even thought of killing him (Gen 37:18-20).

The Apostle James says, "where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every eveil practice (Ja 3:16 - NIV)

Peter admonishes us to put away 'all malice and all deceit,…

A Story of God's Grace

The Life of Joesph is an amazing story of God's grace! No story is the Bible is a better example of God keeping His promise that 'all things work together for good to them that love God.' This is God's promise that out of things that are not good in themselves He will bring about that which is good, not only for the ministers of God's grace but also for those to whom they minister.

Joesph was sold into slavery and imprisoned, but God used these adversities as stepping stones into his…

Principles of Special Hermeneutics; A Portion of an ABC Lecture delivered by myself

Principles related to Figures of Speech:

1.     Every passage has only one meaning to discover. Sometimes the meaning is addressed directly, and sometimes it is stated indirectly through figures of speech.

2.     The interpreter should assume that a passage uses a non-figurative language unless this assumption creates an absurdity or the general context indicates otherwise.

3.     The BIble may overstate a truth in the physical realm to help the reader grasp a spiritual…

Presuppositions about Biblical Interpretation; A Portion of an ABC Lecture delivered by myself

Presuppositions about the Task of the Interpreter:

2.     There are universally accepted laws of understanding communication that apply to the interpretation of the Bible as well.

3.     The ONLY valid interpretation and application of the BIble passage must be consistent with the writer's original intent.

Are Guidelines Needed in Biblical Interpretation: A Portion of a ABC Lecture I Did

It can be said that the difference between mysticism and Christianity is the message of the Bible. Christianity is not founded on a vague notion of who God is based on mystical guesswork; rather, it is built on the foundation of a concrete, divine revelation.

Furthermore, superficial Christians are not…

Key Definitions in the study of Biblical Hermeneutics; A portion of a Lecture to an Abaco BIble College Hermeneutics Class by Me.

Rules of interpretation govern how we interpret any communication. When we speak of the laws governing correct interpretation, we are not referring to a list that varies from person to person or even from secular to inspired writings. We are referring to rules people have used for thousands of years in understanding…
